Research that supports Philippe Rushton includes the work of
anthropologist Henry Harpending. Mr. Harpending led a study that

that Ashkenazim score higher on IQ tests than any other ethnic
group to which they can be reliably compared. Six times as many
Ashkenazim as Europeans score in the "genius range" above 140 on
IQ tests.
Albert Einstein, Sigmund Freud and Gustav Mahler are part of the
Ashkenazim bloodline, as are half of the world's chess
champions. In the U.S., Ashkenazim have won 27 per cent of the
Nobel Prizes awarded to Americans, while making up just three
per cent of the population.

A Little History of Jewish Enrollment in Higher Learning

Current Levels of Jewish Enrollment
The published results for the 2001 SAT test place Jews second, behind
only the small group of self-identified Unitarians. The Unitarians had
average scores of 1209 (out of a maximum of 1600) versus the Jews at
1161 and the national average of 1020.
With today's better-dispersed Jewish population, the reduced emphasis
on geographic diversity, and outstanding SAT scores, Jews have climbed
to remarkable levels of enrollment at our best schools.
Exhibits 6a and 6b show what that means. Two caveats deserve mention
before plowing into the numbers. First, realize the 2.1 percent
estimate for Jews as a percent of the U.S. population is probably high
for college-age students. This is because Jews are not reproducing at
a replacement rate, and they have a median age of forty-one, six years
higher than the U.S. average of thirty-five. Moreover, the percentage
of Jews under age eighteen is only 21 percent of the Jewish population
versus 26 percent for the overall U.S. population. The second caveat
is that most of the enrollment numbers for Jews on the various
campuses come from Hillel, the nonprofit association supporting Jewish
students on campus. Hillel is not exactly a disinterested party,
though they appear to be the single best source for such data, and
both Jews and non-Jews draw on the data and regard them as credible.
In any case, Jews now are 21 percent of the enrollment at Ivy League
schools (30 percent at Penn, 29 percent at Yale and 26 percent at
Harvard). Perhaps now we now know why Bill Clinton had so many Jews in
his administration. Like Lanny Davis, they were all his Yale
classmates! Princeton and Dartmouth bring up the rear at 10 percent
Jewish enrollment, and interestingly both have had something of a
reputation for anti-Semitism despite until recently having had Jewish
presidents. Even in the less prestigious but still excellent Big 10
and PAC 10 schools, enrollment numbers for Jews are impressive at 8
percent and 7 percent respectively. In that regard, since Big 10 and
PAC 10 schools, unlike the Ivy League, tend to draw heavily from the
local populations, it is instructive to compare the school-by-school
averages with the percent of Jewish populations of the respective
states. In that sense, the 8.4 percent Jewish enrollment at the
University of Washington is even more impressive, since the state has
a Jewish population of only 0.7 percent. The University of Michigan
and Northwestern are similarly notable by that standard.

JEWS WERE 6% OF COLLEGE, 24/24% OF LAW/MED SCHOOL IN 60S
The NORC study of college seniors back in the Sixties, if read carefully,
predicted a decline in the percentage of Jewish academics. Jews were then
six percent of college seniors, but 24% and 22% respectively of those
planning to go to law school and med school. Children of well-off Jews went
into those fields; children of poor Jews became academics. Was pretty clear
that there weren't going to be that many poor Jews in the next generation.
As for Jews in business, they have in recent decades naturally gravitated to
the media/Hollywood/Silicon Valley complex, rather than the hard sciences.
More fun, and often a better chance for reward.
At Yale, [jewish quotas ] it was dropped for admission for the class of '69, which would have
been the admissions year 1964-65. All similar schools did the same thing
within a year or two on either side.

Jewish populations around the world share more than traditions and
laws--they also have a common genetic background. That is the
conclusion of the most comprehensive genetic study yet aimed at
tracing the ancestry of Jewish people.
In a study of over 200 Jews from cities in three different
countries, researchers found that all of them descended from a
founding community that lived 2500 years ago in Mesopotamia.
Harry Ostrer of New York University, whose team carried out the
study, likens modern Jewish populations to a series of genetic
islands spread across the world.
The team found genetic traces of a period of intense conversion to
Judaism during the time of the Roman Empire, when up to 10 per cent
of citizens were Jewish. Among modern non-Jewish Europeans,
Italians, Sardinians and the French are most closely genetically
similar to modern Jews, the team found.

Abstract: hypothesis that the unique demography and sociology of
Ashkenazi in medieval Europe selected strongly for intelligence. The
usury laws provided a unique niche, and Ashkenazi literacy and closure
to inward gene flow led to a social environment in which there was
high fitness payoff to intelligence, specifically verbal and
mathematical intelligence but not spatial ability.
Ashkenazi Jews have the highest average IQ of any ethnic group. They
score 0.75 to 1.0 standard deviation above the general European
average, which corresponds to an IQ score around 112-115. Thishas been
seen in many studies (Backman.1972, Levinson 1959, Romanoff 1976),
although a recent review concludes that the advantage is slightly
less, only half a standard deviation (Lynn, 2004).... are hugely
overrepresented in those jobs and accomplishments with the highest
cognitive demands. During the 20th century, they made up about 3% of
the US population, but won 27%of the US Nobel science prizes and 25%
of the ACM Turing awards. They account for more than half of world

Norman Podhoretz’s Why Are Jews Liberal? Not Good Enough

Orthodox would be the most liberal sector of the Jewish community".

which consistently favors the poor over the rich and sees money as the
root of all evil, in the Hebrew Bible riches are just as consistently
considered a blessing.
* back in 1987, Jews made up 92 of the Forbes 400 richest people in
America, according to Nathaniel Weyl’s 1989 book, The Geography of
American Achievement. This month, however, after 22 years in which
power at the federal level has been fairly evenly split between the
two parties, Jacob Berkman, who covers Jewish philanthropists for the
Jewish Telegraphic Agency, estimated that in the newly released 2009
Forbes 400: “At least 139 of the Forbes 400 are Jewish” That’s an
increase of about one-half over 22 years. Hence, Jews, who comprise
about 1/50th of the population, are 1/3rd or more of the Forbes 400.
On a per capita basis, Jewish-Americans are roughly 25 times more
likely than other Americans to be billionaires.
* Podhoretz contends, plausibly, that liberalism is a substitute
religion for Jews. He quotes Dennis Prager: "Despite their secularism,
Jews may be the most religious ethnic group in the world". When Jews
stopped believing in Jehovah, according to Podhoretz, they didn’t
start believing in nothing; they believed in Marxism.

hypothesis: "What is the one political or religious position that
makes a Jew utterly unwelcome in the organized community [e.g., in

The 2000-2001 National Jewish Population Survey found that 5.2 million
Jews live in the United States, compared with 5.5 million a decade
ago. Their median age rose from 37 to 41 in the same period,
The survey also found that more than half of all Jews have earned a
bachelor's degree, compared with 28 percent of non-Jews, and that 24
percent of Jews have earned a grad-uate degree. The median household
income for Jews is about $50,000, compared with $42,000 for all U.S.
households.
Using a broader definition that includes anyone with a Jewish
background would increase the population figure to 6.9 million,
