Is it really much lower than the 15 points found for Whites? I should know, but offhand I do not. However I do know about three Asian adoption studies which have been carried out and about average Asian brian size as compared to Whites or Blacks. Korean and Vietnamese babies from poor backgrounds, many of whom were malnourished, were adopted by White American or Belgian families. When they grew up, they excelled in school. The IQs of the adopted Oriental children were 10 or more points higher than the national average for the country they grew up in. Studies of such adoptions show the strength of the three-way (Oriental-White-Black) racial pattern in IQ. Those on this list will know of Sandra Scarr's Minnesota project in which Black and Mixed-Race (Black-White) children also grew to reach what is generally expected on average test scores. At age 17 adopted White children had an IQ of about 106, Mixed-Race (Black-White) adoptees an IQ of about 99, and adopted Blacks had an IQ of about 89. IQ scores were not the only evidence in this study. School grades, class ranks, and aptitude tests showed the same pattern. Oriental babies are, on average, born with larger heads than are White or Black babies and maintain this advantage when retested (head circumference) at 4 months, 1 year, and 7 years. At age 7 they also average higher IQ scores, despite being shorter in stature and lighter in weight. It is now well established from MRI studies that brain size correlates with IQ scores.
