i:\doc\web\99\07\unconsp.txt The same could be said of Marxism and Communism. There was never a global communist conspiracy, but it sure as heck seemed to work out that way. Everybody from top to bottom thinks the same way and follows the same plan. Christianity works that way too, especially the fundamentalists. The Catholic Church has a heirarchy to enforce unity of beliefs, yet the "non-denominationals" are probably even more unified in their beliefs despite a total lack of central authority (that is at least earthly authority...) Ann Cronin, a leftist who hates STW and OBE compares ed reform to a fundamentalist church, and that's probably a good way to get lefties in if the bible fans don't mind being painted in that light. Yet marxism in all of its forms tends to be like an anti-christian religion after all. Now available at the ClearingHouse Website ===================================================================== David wrote: Surely you don't think that the progressive education nonsense is a result of a UN or "foreign" conspiracy, any more than Reagonomics was a Thatcher conspiracy. There is a natural spectrum of philosophical beliefs common everywhere and all you are noticing is that the predominant one in American education circles is the same as the predominant one in most other countries, which is reflected in the predominant one at UN organizations. And since most people with opinions have a tendency to believe their opinions are correct, it should not surprise you that the UN organizations, and the national organizations, and the classroom teacher who buy into this predominant philosophy also advocate for it in everything they do and do so collectively. This doesn't make them right, but it is certainly more plausible than the proposition that progressive education reforms are a UN plot. Even assuming Thomas Dewey supported the UN, I think most of his writings pre-dated it's founding. --------------------------------------------------- David, I hear you, but I think it's important to see there is a correlation. And while things may not have started as a "conspiracy", many radicals that are intent on pushing their agendas have become involved with the UN organizations to try to speed up the process. So, in other words, putting the conspiracy idea aside, what is important to realize at this point, is that UN organizations are being used to promote radical agendas by those who think they know what is best for everyone. ===================================================================== EDUCATION CONSUMERS CLEARINGHOUSE networking and information for parents and taxpayers on the internet Subscriptions & Archives: http://education-consumers.com or You are currently subscribed to education-consumers as: arthurhu@halcyon.com TO UNSUBSCRIBE: Send a blank email to leave-education-consumers-989462S@lists.dundee.net ===================================================================== For less mail, click on the following link and choose 1) a daily digest, 2) a daily list of subjects, or 3) no mail (read postings on Web) http://lists.dundee.net/scripts/lyris.pl?enter=education-consumers For more help & info: http://www.lyris.com/help or
