A few days ago the California Department of Education posted a file with the text of a booklet that will be sent to districts as an aid in explaining the tests to parents. This includes a reasonable description of the testing and reporting process. To download this file go to http://www.cde.ca.gov/cilbranch/sca/star/parent/STAR99%20Parent%20Pkt.pdf Note that this is a PDF file and will require a PDF reader such as the Adobe Acrobat Reader. Feel free to forward this information to others who might be interested. For those of you outside California, I hope that information about the testing program in California will be informative as a comparison to whatever testing programs are available in your state.
