This is a rare copy of Boeing's promotional film promoting the SST (Super-Sonic Transport). The
SST was to be built by Boeing in cooperation with General Electric and the US Government to go head-to-head with the percieved
economical threat of the Concord SST and the Soviet TU-144 SST. Mostly animated, the film details
the reasons why the United States needed to build an SST of its own. It talks about negative gold flow from
our economy and how the foriegn interests would steal business from the USA with their SSTs. The narrator is
quite dramatic in the portrayal of problems if we didn't build the SST and pointed out the economical benefits to
the entire country if we did build it. It puts on quite a selling job in its promotion of the USA SST program.
The program was eventually cancelled due to cost considerations and the realization of the costs, environmental
impacts and restrictions that got imposed on the Concord and the TU-144, thus limiting their
encroachment into very many air traffic markets.
The film is in very good shape and has held its color very well considering its age. It is approx. 8-9 minutes in length.
