"Any people you know who would like to get involved with my run for SPI? I'm still playing with the idea." Not really. Unfortunately, I've practically no one who has any interest in school politics at all. Our new custodian is politically savvy and is disgusted with the bureaucracy. But he said he's gotten to the point where he's given up even trying to talk to people. He and I shake our heads in amazement at the teachers in our school who have John Stanford posters hanging in their rooms. As you know, teachers are rallying to get a pay raise, but they're clueless and apathetic when it comes to politics. I was floored by an article about Loyal Heights in the Seattle Press. Their principal, Sharon Aune, beat Mr. Mak out for a principalship at Cooper Elementary School, which floundered under her lack of leadership. Even Stanford had enough common sense to get her out of there, sending her to Loyal Heights, which then started going downhill. Parents have pulled their children out and sent them to private schools. Loyal Heights, which was formerly one of Seattle's best, nearly landed on the list of poor performing "focus schools"! So I was amazed to read this article that maintains that Loyal Heights is "smaller" and "better"! I asked the author who he got his information from, and he replied, "Sharon Aune." Did you hear about John Stanford's widow moving to Seattle? Mr. Mak said he went to a Sonics game last night, and it turned into another Stanford memorial. He said there were lots of Seattle Schools administrators there, and Stanford's son was given $50,000. I suspect the establishment has given him a lot more than that so that they can use him as a propaganda piece. If people were reluctant to criticize a dying Stanford, they're going to remain reluctant to criticize him in the presence of his son or widow. What a sleazy strategy.
