\doc\99\01\f106.txt Looks good. Some other info - Of the century series fighters, the F106 probably had the best dogfighting performance with a big wing and low drag. It does not have the sheer 1:1 thrust-weight ratio of modern fighters. The F102 and F106 carried missles in an internal bay, a feature also found on the YF-12, and which is being re-introduced with the stealthy F-22. The F106 never saw combat against either fighters or bombers. The Gatling gun was installed in the missle bay after experience with the F4 Phantom found they were useful in close-in dogfights. The canopy was also changed to provide somewhat more vision. The missles were called "falcons" which did not prove popular with tried on F4s in Vietnam compared to navy developed Sparrow and sidewinder missles, also adopted on the F15. The Navy Phoenix came out of the falcon design. The Hasegawa F106 model has the same markings as the McChord plane, the museum also as F-15s and T-33 with similar markings.
