f:\doc\web\98\07\iaay.txt Institute for the Academic Advancement of Youth"(IAAY), Stanford Tests I don't have any specific information on these test or programs, but they sound like your basic upper 1% type of gifted student thing. Performance based tests skim off the top 1% just about as well as any other test, it's how it trashes the other 99% that bothers me. The Stanford tests as far as I know bow a little bit to the fuzzy standards, but are still hard, and skewed towards rich whites and asians in terms of who scores the best on the tests. The Stanford 9 showed boston blacks at only 1% passing vs. 30% for whites. Again, if you're child is in the top 1%, they are precisely the sort of kids that come out on top on these tests.
