There is a group of education committee legislators that are linked arm in arm at the Federal level with the authors and promoters of this atrocity. We believe that they are using Minnesota as a test site for the entire nation because generally, Minnesota has been touted as an educational leader. If the Federal government can take a state that is only second in ACT score and percentage of high school graduates and impose a mandated curriculum on them, then they can impose it anywhere in the United States. The teachers are being threatened by our department of Children, Families, and Learning (state board of education) with job removal unless they fully comply. They are linking assessment scores and attitude to pay and they are now rewriting their job descriptions to include "complete compliance to the new system" in order to be able to legally dismiss or reprimand them. The pace is quickening at an unbelievable rate. We are desperate to get this message out and link to other states for a national force against it. We are highly unorganized and growing fast but our fragmented efforts need a united direction. Any ideas on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
