I200 POLL TELLS VOTERS TO OPPOSE I200 \doc\web\98\06\i200poll.txt From: "Mike Hihn" Organization: Libertarian Party of Washington State To: kclp@ix.netcom.com (kclp Mailing List) Date sent: Wed, 16 Sep 1998 16:46:50 -0700 Subject: kclp: "Repealing Affirmative Action" Send reply to: kclp@ix.netcom.com Priority: normal Okay, now I'm really pissed -- not just angry. A telephone pollster phoned me today, presumably the Times/Elway Poll based on the questions asked. I was first asked if I support Affirmative Action. Yes. I was then asked if I support I-200. Yes. Then I was asked if I knew that I-200 would repeal Affirmative Action, and would that change my support. My response was that I-200 had nothing to do with Affirmative Action, and I suggested -- baldly -- that the poll was lying to me. The caller was flustered for a bit, then came back with his "trump" card. Would it change my view, he said, if I knew that the ACLU says I-200 will repeal Affirmative Action. No. Richard Shepard, are you listening. I think we have a PDC complaint here. This is not an opinion poll. It's a political poll that tells the sponsors what it takes to change one's support of I-200. Thus, it's an "in-kind contribution" to the NO On I-200 campaign.
