Dear Arthur Hu and Ed loop
Here is a piece of info to pass along and get. The new Teacher
Certification which all states have to implement with ed reform. In the Frc
update that is being sent out too explains a little more, read both. The
book I got you can get free 53 pages in book form by calling 703-242-3575
they will ship to you.
It is called reforming teacher training and recruitment: { A Critical
Appraisal of the recommendations of the National Commission on Teaching and
America's Future} by Dale Ballou PH D and Micael Podgursky PH. D In here
it explains both sides and what the new teacher certification requirements
are and they are exactly what our state is doing. Dale and Michael quote
that the whole system does not need to be completely over hauled the way
they say they should be. So its there critique of the new teaching
standards and methods.
I have not read through the entire book yet but I should let all of you
know how to get this and our representatives need to look at this as well.
The book is also volume 17 of the Government union review a quarterly
Journal on public sector labor relations. This book is easy reading not
that many pages.
for an example page 9 The commission is the National Council for
Accreditation of Teacher Education NCATE quote: { Although the commission
is vague about the source for these numbers, by all indications they are
based on the 1990-91 schools and staffing survey {SAS} the most
comprehensive source of nationally representative information on the makeup
of the teaching work force. However, in our own tabulations of these data
we were unable to reproduce the statistics cited by the Commission.} end of
quote there is more you need to get the report and read it. Are we
surprised that they could not come up with the same data or produce the
same statistics ? Everything is based on a crisis a fictional crisis that
they produce, so called reports to validate more meddling into the system
for total transformation of the educational system.
Happy reading.
