Only 2 states participated in New
Standards Wow!...well...well...well ......look how many takers of
the New Standards Assessments of the New Standards Project (NSP)
participated....Only 2 states, both in the NE Regional Resource
Center area..at Brown University...(figures) and the list of cities
cited. After all these years with dues paying states that "allowed"
the NSP to experiment on the children of that state in developing
their "new" curriculum, "new" basic skills, for the upcoming "new"
"national assessments", only 2 states followed through with Marc
Tucker and Lauren Resnick???!!! (Vermont paid the NSP $l00,000 per
year just to carry the NSP membership card . More populated states
paid $500.000 a year for their cards...)

Very interesting......These are the "standardized" "international
benchmarks"???? (not normed) In Vt., it was explained that the NSP
assessments were "grounded" instead... :>), Marge Petit, Deputy
Commissioner of Education...
At one point, NASDC indicated that the "International Benchmarks"
were... "a moving dynamic force"...They sure are! They picked and
left town! Notice any "dynamic moving force" leaving your city or
state limits? Obviously.... they weren't very well "grounded"!
It's time to go for the contracts/costs/conditions assured/ etc.
everywhere the NSP/NCEE/have operated with NASDC

I had requested the list of states and districts who participated in last
Spring's assessments. I have yet to receive it. Would you please forward it.
Also, the KY Senate has just voted overwhelmingly to drop performance
assessments and portfolios because of the wide spread cheating found among
teachers. Fran De Gasta

Fran,
Don't know why you didn't receive the prior list that was sent. I'll try
again.

Hello, I am a parent concerned about Education Reform in
Washington state in Kirkland WA, I am curious as to why
WA is no long an active participant in the New Standards
project and has chosen to do their own assessment and set
their own standards.
I have done an extensive evaluation of the WA assessment,
and have looked at a number of state standards, but I have only
seen the few examples on the glossy literature that I have mailed
in for.
On the product list, it is mentioned that there are sample tests
available, and a technical data book for the new standards books.
Is it possible to get, for evaluation or for keeping? I have written
articles that have been printed in local and national newspapers
and magazines, and would like to get a first hand look at the
New Standards standards books, and the assessments. I would
also like to get a copy of the "High Skills High Wages" report, as
it appears a copy is not available on the web (this is something
that I believe Mr. Tucker should post so that all citizens can read
it)
How many cities and states are formally signed onto the
New Standards or Alliance for Restructuring today?

Hey,great post. I'm using lthe NCEE addresses to see if I can get
a review copy of their standards books and tests.
Do you have any other information? The samples that I've seen are
just wacko, but parents don't know what's too hard or not. As far
as I can tell, these have absolutely nothting to do with what
assessments are in Japan or Germany, which are comparable to
US as far as I know.
I've heard philly suburbs, DC, and Edmonds WA are signed up for NS.
