From: wackotwo@ix.netcom.com(Wacko Two ) Date: 1996/05/01 Message-ID: <4m6nj4$kj2@dfw-ixnews8.ix.netcom.com> Newsgroups: k12.ed.math,k12.chat.elementary [More Headers] Anyone: Our district has been piloting elementary k-8 math textbooks all year and we need to make a decision by June, 1996 as to what we will adopt for the next 7 years. We have piloted Mathland, Quest, and Scott Foresman.Grade 6-8 is most likely going with Scott F. K-2 maybe with Quest. Grade 3-5 can't decide.(Mathland is totally out!) I am on this piloting committee and teach 4th grade. I like Scott F... as a good core/base textbook (easy for new teachers, parents, students, subs, etc..) I would then supplement it with many replacement and discovery units because it is a little to structured. Anything we adopt will not be perfect and will need to be supplemented of course. I don't want QUEST!!!!Anyone out there know anything about Quest? Have you tried it or already use it? Do you hate/like it? has your district adopted it and now are sorry??Please give me some input if you have anything to share.....Thank You --Very frustrated! (please e-mail me DIRECTLY.)
