Shortly after sending my  "University of Chicago" email packet an hour
ago,  I
received a posting from the MBA mom who wrote the first letter telling about
her daughter's experience with U of C math.  She wrote today to tell me about
her daughter's progress in the Saxon.  I know this sounds like a commercial,
but so be it. I was so thrilled to hear this good news that I want to  hug
every parent who is homeschooling or tutoring before and after and during
school.   Mary 


Follow up letter received today:
Mary,
Here's another plug for Saxon Math ......T.  came within one point of
skipping
5th  grade math at (private school she recently transferred to).......can you
believe it?  Eighteen months ago she didn't know that the big number is
first
(top) in a subtraction problem.  I think about how far she has come in 16
months with Saxon and I am beaming.  She is so solid with decimals,
fractions,
and percentages.....Saxon does a whale of a job in that area.  I can't
wait to
see her Iowa results in May.  
T. is a poster child for the ill-effects of Everyday Math.....and a success
story for Saxon.  A million thanks to you Mary.....you saved another kid!
When I read 
Barb's  post about the 4th grade Homelink for Everyday I cringed and was so
upset that, as a district, St. Charles has accepted such pitiful instruction
in math.
