I'm 99% sure that's accurate. Granted, there is a level of religious motivation behind the book, but he references and cites *all* critical points very well. Many of his references are from the Planned Parenthood publiction Birth Control Review. I went to my library (TCU) and they had scattered issues for the years in question. However, I found that virtually *any* issue between 1922 and 1940 rife with racist and eugenics material. Hitler's geneticist even wrote a column (referenced in the book) for BCR. Unfortunately, that issue was not in our library and I haven't requested it via interlibrary loan. I did read articles promoting sterilization of people from Southern Europe and Africa on the grounds they wouldn't have a decent quality of life here, being so poor and sickly when they got here. While I enjoyed the book for what it is (I'm pro-life), it's real value is pinpointing source reference material. Grant points you to the alpha-text and you could write 10 books from what you will find--all about a different sinister aspect of Planned Parenthood. One PP antic that was related to my by a professor here was that in the 1920s and 1930s PP would travel the South promoting gospel revivals to Blacks. They would have two tents. One would be a Pentacostal revival tent that would urge the people to become sterilized to prevent children being born into a life of poverty. The second tent performed the sterilizations. If you get the book, let me know what you think. If you go straight to the archives of Birth Control Review, make a fortune on what you find! kuchta kuchta@gamma.is.tcu.edu
