Here is the web link http://www.fwsd.wednet.edu/info/press/0203/030418waslgrades.html Pass the WASL, Improve Your Grades In a never-ending effort to motivate our students to better prepare for the Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) tests, Federal Way high school principals put their heads together and came up with the following incentives for the Class of 2005. Sophomores, who take the WASL between April 21 and May 8, and pass either the Language Arts (reading, writing, and listening) portion, and/or the Math portion, will have the following options: 1. Students can get a .5 credit and a passing grade in a Language Arts class or a Math class they failed in 9th or 10th grade. Or 2. Students can raise their grade one letter increment in a Language Arts or Math class they have already taken. (For example: from C+ to B-, or from B+ to A-) They must pass the Language Arts portion of the WASL to use one of these incentives for a Language Arts class and they must pass the Math portion of the WASL to use one of these incentives for a Math class. Currently these incentives are only available to sophomores and when results from the current WASL testing arrive this fall, these incentives will be reevaluated.
