z58\doc\web\2002\09\dissex.txt DISNEY DOES SEX ED Arthur Hu Sept 12, 2002 I got to review the sex-ed videos that my 4th grader got. Guess what, they're produced by Disney in his and her versions. In the boys version, two boys sneak in to get their older brother's health book to find out about wet dreams and puberty. No information about what happens to girls. In the girls version, an older sister takes the girls to the library to find out about periods. They get a quick 5 second picture and tour of the labia, clitoris, vagina and urethra out of the book (Not quite our bodies our selves, but getting there..). They are told that they will get breasts and no they can't do anything about their genetically determined size, which I'm not sure is really true. Nothing about where babies come from, or how kids can get in trouble by going beyond making kissy faces, or even that the other sex looks different with their pants down. Nothing too shocking, there were some attached fuzzy value conflict resolution / facilitation stuff books attached as well. That's what's up in Lake Washington District 4th grade at least.
