z45\doc\web\2000\10\read3.txt 3rd Grade Book Projects October-Formal Written Report-see report outline for directions November-Diorama-a shoebox is used to hold a scene from your book. You need to have a note card on the box telling the title/author and scene. December-Oral Report-you will give an oral report that will tell the class the title, author and illustrator of your book. You will also give a brief summary of the story and tell what part was your favorite. This report will take from two-five minutes and if you dress up as a character from the book, it will be counted as extra credit! You will be graded on the content of your report and how well you speak to the class. Remember to practice at home! January-Character Outline-you will choose one of the main characters from your book and explain 1) their attributes-what they look like, what they act like, 2) what their strength or special gift/power Is and how they use it in the story and 3) how they change from the beginning of the book to the end. All characters change or learn a lesson. How did your character change or what lesson did your character learn? February-Sequence of Main Events Outline-This report can be done in two ways. The first way is to get a worksheet from the teacher that is separated into squares. You will write a brief sentence and draw a picture to go with each of the main events in the story. The second way is to use your own paper and just number lit, writing in sentences outlining the main events. Either way, you will summarize the book by writing about he main events that took place. March-Collage-This is a collection of magazine pictures, cut out, overlapped and glued onto a poster board. The collection should shoe the idea or theme of the book. For example, if you read a book about snakes, you should probably have a bunch of pictures of snakes! April-Poster-create a poster to advertise your book. You need to include the author, illustrator and title. The poster can be done in any way; paint, crayon, pencil. It must be exciting enough to encourage people to read \'our book. Please, no tracing. May-Free Choice-you may choose your favorite book project above to do for another book in May!
