NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF SCHOLARS- I wrote to this mysterious group
that briefly found its way onto the E-loop without permission, I think,
and asked them what was their position on Goals 2OOO/OBE/STW as I was
skeptical of the group.  I received a short reply by their public
affairs director, Glenn M. Ricketts dated Oct. 24, 2OOO stating, "I've
written in response to your recent note inquiring about the position of
our organization with regard to the "Goasl 2OOO" National Education
Plan. At this time, we do not have one, although we follow this and
similar initiatives with interest. Thank you very much for writing, and
please feel free to contact us if you have additional questions we might
address."  Note: No position on the above by a group of "scholars" says
volumnes. It means they support the NEP, obviously. On the Board of
Directors listed on the letter are some interesting figures: Chester E.
Finn, Jr, Jacques Barzun, Jeane J. Kilpatrick (Empower America), Irving
Kristol (moderate GOP/Empower America) and more that researchers into
the "roots" of OBE might find interesting. The letter (copy) is
