To the Seattle Times March 20, 2000 Arthur Hu Ode to a Dome I wonder what would have happened if the Romans decided to blow up the Coliseum just because it would cost too much to bring it back up to world class standards? My 6 and 8 year olds often draw the Kingdome in their school pictures as their favorite place. I asked them if they should blow it up or keep it, and they said they'd like to keep it. Having been to Fenway Park and the new Safeco field, maybe it wasn't the world's greatest ballpark. But as a building, I think it made a bolder statement than the erector set or the split bun look of the new pair of stadiums. Now we'll have to clear out every Seattle picture and memento that features the Space Needle / Downtown / Kingdome skyline that we've all grown up with. It will always remain in my memory looming approaching the city from I5, and we will all miss it. Arthur Hu Kirkland WA 425-814-2183
